Overcrowding and environmental degradation are two of them. An example is provided:

You have a city of 10,000 people, with a certain amount of hospitals, schools and emergency services such as police and firefighters. If you have 11,000 people at the end of the year (a 10% growth in population) due to Immigration, the local government will have to cope with the increased demand on such services. This often results on classroom and hospital overcrowding, or the overtime that will be required from police and firefighter departments as more people means more crime or demand for firefighting services. Also, more water, food, energy and other "environmental" services such as waste water treatment will be required. If not managed properly, the growth in population will result in environmental degradation, as forests are cleared to increase food production, or not enough waste water treatment facilities are put on line at the end of the year, polluting rivers and lakes.
