Tacoma, Washington is mid-sized city located in the state of Washington. Because of its many recreational opportunities, Tacoma, which is located just 30 miles south of Seattle, is an excellent place to spend a vacation.

When visiting Tacoma, many people like to head to Mount Rainier for either an afternoon or a few days. With an elevation of over 14,000, Mount Rainier is the tallest mountain in the continental United States. While climbing Mount Rainier should be reserved for only expert climbers, there are plenty of recreational activities that could be taken advantage of by amateur outdoorsmen. On the mountain there are various hiking trails and public camp grounds, which can be accessed and used by anyone. In the winter months, Mount Rainier is a popular destination for anyone looking to cross-country ski or do some snowshoeing.
