If the windows will not defrost, it could be due to a faulty heating system, such as a malfunctioning heater core or blower motor. Additionally, low coolant levels or a clogged cabin air filter can impede proper airflow and heating. It's also possible that the defrost setting isn't activated or functioning correctly. Ensuring the vehicle's ventilation system is set to the defrost mode is essential for effective defrosting.
If this is the condenser that is frozen, you have a problem with the defrost cycle. There are 2 things that need to be checked, the defrost sensor and the defrost control board. More than likely it is the defrost control board that is the problem and of course that is the more costly of the 2.
That means either you have air in your heater core or your heater core is being bypassed
Because it is cold
The fastest way to defrost a windshield is to turn the defrost vent on without heat or simply open the windows. Another option is to warm the inside of the car by turning the heater on.
The default for heaters is to go to defrost if there is a problem in the system. You will have to get under the dash to find the problem. Probably best to take it in as they can get tricky without diagrams depending on the system
If defrost is on it could be your compressor going bad. See what happens when you leave off defrost or disconnect your compressor. It only controls defrost and air conditioning. I had the same problem
no defrost on left side of car and antifreeze draining on right side of car. What is the problem
I own a 1994 acura integra and the heater/air conditioning blower is not working, I can not defrost my windows and the heat does not blow. What is wrong and how can the problem be fixed.
If the heater works but the defrost does not, the issue could be due to a malfunctioning blend door or actuator that controls airflow between the heater and defrost settings. Another possibility is a blockage in the defrost duct or a problem with the climate control system. Additionally, low refrigerant levels or a failing compressor in vehicles with climate control systems could also affect defrost functionality. It's best to have a qualified technician diagnose the specific problem.
When there is a problem with the vent system it dfaults to the defrost setting. Sounds like you have a problem in the doors that direct the air flow.

If you have the control set on Max or recirculate, it will recirculate the cabin air causing the windows to fog. Set it to Normal or for outside air. Do you smell something sweet? If yes then there is a leak in the heater core and this will cause fogging.
