Any number of reasons . . . First and foremost is the cost of transporting. BUY LOCAL ! If you can visit local farmers markets, THAT is your best bet !

Also - nature has a big impact on pricing of crops. If there has been a drought or floods, then the crops sometimes fail, and we have to rely on produce grown in a different region to be shipped in.

Any number of factors affect the price of produce. Try growing it yourself !

Much healthier and fresher . . . and cheaper !
