Consequently, more job opportunities opened up for them. the women were patriotic during the war, as the suffragette and suffragist movements stopped for the duration and the whole country worked together, with the women taking on the jobs of the men. With a combination of other factors other than their contribution such as the fear of the suffragette movement starting again, in 1918, women over 30 years of age, who were home owners got the vote. Furthermore, women no longer had to have a chaperone on dates, and the man instead of coming to the women's house, the two went out on 'dates'.
