1) There is no other ocular pathology that could limit vision other than a cataract and astigmatism;
2) The astigmatism is "regular" (shaped like a bow-tie when viewed using corneal topography)
3) The astigmatism is mild to moderate (between 0.75 - 3 diopters)
then it is a fantastic option. With a toric IOL, distance vision after cataract surgery is usually very clear even without glasses. However, a toric IOL will not give anyone both near and distance vision without glasses. For that, a multifocal or pseudo-accommodating IOL is needed.

Dont know about astigmatism per se, but it IS possible for pregnancy to mess with your vision. that's why they say not to run out and buy new glasses right away. Wait til you have the baby and see if it clears up
