Yes, according to my doctor, that's what I have.
A tight feeling right at the top of the stomach, in the front, just below the bra strap, really.
The valve swells or spasms and just shuts off the passage of food.
What food can get through hurts pretty bad and the feeling is like someone just punched you in the upper stomach.

Doctor prescribed me a serious muscle relaxant, which does the trick.
Massage works wonders but hurts during the massage as the muscle is very tender.
*Stretch your arm on the same side as your pain across your chest and lie down (on your stomach). Ask someone to massage the muscle between your shoulder blade and your spine. Crossing your arm under your chest provides better access to this muscle which is normally partly hidden by your shoulder blade. Believe it or not, this can help relieve the spasm you feel below your ribs!*

When the attack passes the muscle continues to be tender to the touch, for as much as a day or two.

For me at least, the cause appears to be totally stress-related.

As with most stomach related conditions, alcohol, spicy, fatty and acidic foods etc. make the condition much worse. Roughage, such as salad, does seem to help but watch the dressing. The condition is very sensitive and even something with tomato can aggravate it a bit or a lot, depending on the day, the person, the stressors and how you are coping.

You pretty much have to come to the conclusion that you are internalizing your stress and find a good, productive outlet to get a handle on it.

Again, I'm no doctor, just a sufferer and these are just my experiences.
