I've had MG (diagnosed) for 17 years. It would seem that MG could result in gastroparesis. However, it is possible that MG treated with large doses of prednisone or other corticosteroids over a long time might be the route. The
prednisone causes a challenge to blood sugar control, sometimes leading to Diabetes in the MG patient. Diabetes is said to be the leading known cause of
gastroparesis. Be very careful weaning off of prednisone; follow a knowledgeable MD's instructions. It is my experience that the AMA physicians can be very helpful with MG, as can naturopaths, accupunturists, etc. when working in cooperation with an MD. None, however, including the MDs, know everything about MG - particularly its expression and course in atypical patients.
Myasthenia gravis is a neuromuscular disorder involving the muscles and the nerves that control them.
A deficiency of ACh receptors in a motor end plate would cause muscle weakness or paralysis. This condition is called myasthenia gravis.
Transient neonatal myasthenia gravis occurs in infants born from mothers who have MG.
Although polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is associated with some health effects, through Phthalates, they are usually either breast cancer and endocrine disruptions. Myasthenia Gravis is when the neurotransmitter acetylcholine is blocked in the eye, causing eye muscles to become relaxed and either partially or completely uncontrollable. It is unlikely that PVC cause myasthenia gravis.
Doxycycline is not contraindicated in myathenia gravis.
No.
Myasthenia gravis.
Ventilatory assistance devices may need to be used because of myasthenia gravis
Aminoglycosides inhibit the release of acetylcholine from the motor nerve. Myestenia gravis patients are more susceptible to this effect. So these drugs are to be avoided in myestenia gravis patients.
Neostigmine is preferred for treatment of myasthenia gravis. Pyridostigmine is longer acting than neostigmine.
Yes, teenagers can develop myasthenia gravis. While the condition is more common in adults, it can occur at any age. If you suspect you or someone you know may have myasthenia gravis, it's important to consult with a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and management.
The edrophonium chloride test is a diagnostic test used to help confirm myasthenia gravis. It involves injecting the medication edrophonium chloride, which temporarily improves muscle strength in individuals with myasthenia gravis. This improvement can help differentiate myasthenia gravis from other conditions that cause similar symptoms.
