You can live off of one lung. There is proof of this from cancer patients. Also though it depends on if you have the object that penetrated the lunbg taken out and for how long, how deep and the circustances of the object penetrated. And you could bleed to death of basically 'sufacate' to death from the blood filling y uor lung.
