There is a way to advertise without expense as far as actual money goes, however most methods do accumulate a lot of your time. With time being money, the real answer is up to you.

1.) One free way to advertise is via the internet. There are a multitude of article websites that allow free submission online for authors. In these articles they allow authors to post URL links and/or business contact information in the bottom resource area of an article. To become an author you basically just need to sign up on their registration pages and submit a few 500 word articles. These articles also get posted on other web masters sites and have the potential to go viral along with your business.

2.) Press releases. This is another effective free advertising method if done properly. Be forewarned that your press release may not get the greatest exposure without paying for distribution or inclusion, but you can help get the word out none the less. There are sites online that allow electronic submission of your press release. You will want to study up on the proper press release format as well as read up on emailing releases directly to your local news editors.

3.) Flyer posting. This is a free advertising method only if you already have the paper and printer. You can use Microsoft Publisher or Word to create pull tab fliers to post around your town and bulletin boards offering your services or products. Be warned that each property owner has rights to what can be posted and can be against the law in certain areas.

4.) Business cards can be free if you have a printer and some card paper in hand. Design a nice business card for your company stating services and products and hand them out at social functions. You can even sometimes leave a stack of cards at a reception desk at some establishments.

5.) If you own a website you can get free advertising by joining an online banner exchange. These exchanges allow you to place banner code into your web pages and in return show your banner add on other participating network sites. Research the best exchange ratio and distribution before committing to the task of adding code however. You want to get the most for your efforts and not all free banner exchange sites are equal.
