Keratin complex by Coppola is probably one of the safer smoothing treatments on the market. Although it does have some formaldehyde in it (a bonded aldehyde), it is nowhere near as bad as some of the stronger blow dry systems out there such as brazillian bowdry (excluding brazillian blowdry zero). Saying this, it can still cause skin sensitisation and some people may experience breathing difficulties if there is not adequate ventilation in the salon where the procedure is being carried out. (At least make sure the door is open and your seat where the procedure is being carried out is near the door). In warmer climates, a professional ventilation system would be necessary for this treatment to be carried out.

Make sure your salon stylist has been trained properly on how to administer the product in to your hair before going there and having the treatment done. It lasts 3-6 months depending on hair type and treatment.

Keratin complex smoothing therapy and the intense rx have been banned in Australia due to excessive amounts of free formaldehyde. Saying this, no other countries have banned both products at the same time. This is probably due to the fact their tests are and acceptable levels are different to other countries.

The safer products to use are the infusion therapy products as they don't have the formaldehyde present in the smoothing therapy and intense rx. However the intense rx is very good at re-building your hair's structure. you could do this treatment once every week but it's more necessary to use the infusion therapy to keep moisture in your hair and re-built the keratin in your hair.
