How do bulemics make themselves vomit?

The automatic reaction is to stop gagging, but vomiting only occurs when the gagging wont stop; so bulimics gag themselves for as long as it takes to heave up a portion of what they ate. some people develop or are born with the ability to throw up on command, without the gag reflex.
