this sounds mean but the proper way to hold a rabbit is to hold the ears and the legs .
left hand holds the ears and the right one holds the legs that way the rabbit can not bite or kick .

you should NEVER pick it up by its ears or legs! it causes them pain ALOT would you like to be picked up by your ears? no, would you like to be carried about by your legs? no you could brake a bone in their legs! and they would more than likely be scared of you and try and bite you every time you go near it
the best way to carry them is put one hand under the bottom and the other underneath them on their chest area and gently place them on your chest while you still have one hand under their bum and one hand on their back (if you feel they will try and jump or fall)
if you got your rabbit from a pet store they should of showed you how to handle it!
Dont make the rabbit scaredYou shouldn't hurt it

Well, it certainly is for the rabbit who's had their foot lopped off!
