Pulser coil used for spark timing in automotive. industry.
The stator is bad.. Or the pulser coil
The coil you need and the difficulty of installation depends on the year of your BMW. Also, before you replace the coil you should be completely certain that it is the culprit of your problem. Have you tested the resistance of the coil to be sure that it has failed? An independent BMW mechanic will be able to diagnose your problem easily. You can find one at BimmerShops.com. If you want to tackle the project yourself, get a Bentley Manual. It'll help you troubleshoot the problem.
If there is no power to the ignition coil on a 1994 Plymouth Sundance, the issue could be due to a faulty ignition switch, a blown fuse, or a problem with the wiring harness. It's also possible that the coil itself is defective or that there's an issue with the engine control module (ECM) not sending the signal to activate the coil. Checking the voltage at the coil, inspecting the fuses, and testing the ignition switch can help diagnose the problem.

Auto Zone or other parts stores should be able to use an OBD II reader to diagnose the problem and tell you which coil pack is bad. Replacement is simple. Simply remove two screws and replace the coil pack. I just went to Auto Zone to have the modulator checked on An '87 Maxima and they told me it wasn't in their book.
