How do you figure how many bundles of shingles for a roof 80 x 30?

43 x 32 = 1376 sq ft or /100 = 13.76 square. each bundle is 1/3 of a square so 13.76 x 3 = 41.28 bundles Buy an extra bundle or two for mistakes and ridge rows. I hope I got that right and I hope someone checks that for me. Call your local Home Improvement store and they can tell you for sure.

Height times width gives you square footage. One square of shingles covers 100 square feet. Depending on the type of shingle, there are either 3 or 4 bundles in a square. If your entire roof is 30x65 you have 1950 square feet, it that is one side, double that to 3900 sq. ft. Allow extra for the starter course and the cap. You would have 20 or 40 squares depending on the total roof area. Standard duty shingles have 3 bundles to the square so 60 or 120 bundles. Architectural or heavy duty shingles have 4 bundles per sq. so 80 or 160 bundles.
