If you can keep your habit to a minimum, through exercises like running, and anything else that requires large amounts of breathing will keep your lungs and endurance at decent shape.

The best way to keep up endurance would be to quit, and then begin endurance training schedule. However, you may find that once you start running you will naturally want to quit.
