depends on if it's a depressant or stimulant. A depressant slows the heart's pulses as a stimulant speeds it up. Ex: coffee is a stimulant, it keeps you awake, as Benadryl (however u spell it) is a deppresent because it makes you drowsy.

What regulates the autonomic tone?

The autonomic tone is regulated by the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions of the autonomic nervous system, which act in opposition to each other to maintain homeostasis. Various factors such as stress, emotions, hormones, and external stimuli can influence this balance and thus regulate autonomic tone.

Does the nervous system make you think act and speak or the circulatory system?

What nervous system regulates the blood?

A good example is the baroreflex. Pressure sensors signal to the nervous system to increase venous return when we go from lying to standing. The nervous system controls the contraction of the veins which forces blood from the legs back to the heart. The nervous system can also increase the stimulation to the heart increasing the number of beats per minute. The net effect of the blood that is returned into the circulation and the increases heart rate act to restore blood pressure to it's proper level.

Involuntary nerves that stimulate the body in times of stress and crisis?

the peripheral nervous system can be further organized into two divisions: the somatic (which controls voluntary movements like walking and talking) and the autonomic (which controls involuntary movements like breathing and heartbeat). But did you know that this autonomic nervous system can be further broken down into two main divisions? These are the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. The sympathetic nervous system prepares the body to act during times of stress---that is, to undergo the complex of changes known as the fight-or-flight response. The parasympathetic system conserves and restores the body's resources.

What nervous system cells act as phagocytes within the central nervous system?

How do nerves act as a link between the nervous system and other parts of the body?

Nerves serve as conduits that transmit signals between the nervous system and various parts of the body. They carry sensory information from peripheral receptors to the central nervous system (CNS) and relay motor commands from the CNS to muscles and organs. This communication enables the body to respond to internal and external stimuli, coordinating actions and maintaining homeostasis. Additionally, the autonomic nervous system regulates involuntary functions, further connecting the nervous system to bodily processes.

What does the parasympathetic nervous system stimulate in the micturition reflex?

The parasympathetic nervous system allows the act of micturition. The sympathetic nervous system inhibits it.
