Obesity is defined by being 30% over one's recommened body weight. Junk food tends to be high in calories from sugar and saturated fat (trans fat also). Too much of both of these result directly result in weight gain. Saturated fat is particularly detrimental as it contributes to the health problems associated with obesity. Obesity is associated with further health complications such as clogged arteries, cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, kidney and liver problems etc etc. Saturated fatsare difficult for your body to digest and can lead to clogged arteries and cardiovasclar problems. Although fat is a necessary part of your diet, the fats available in junk food are bad for you. Its important to take in good fats - like those found in olive oil, avocodo and nuts. And even with those, if you suffer from obesity, you should only be taking in minimal amounts until your weight is once again under control. Good luck!
