Parts of mind: The mind is actually divisible into seven parts. In Hinduism each of these is associated with a god.
They are,
1. Dreaming mind - Indra
2. Illusory mind - Shakti
3. Creative mind - Brahma
4. stabilizing mind - Vishnu
5. Determined mind - Shiva
6. Status altering mind - Shani
7. Compulsive mind - Yama
A dream is converted into action after being processed by all the seven minds in the above order.
A thought in the dreaming mind is the most difficult to convert into action. A thought in the compulsive mind gets converted into action easily.
Since our understanding of mind is minimal we have divided into just two halves.
1. Conscious mind:
This is made of the first three and a half minds. Thoughts in the conscious mind have very little chance of getting converted into action. Thus, the conscious mind is not of much importance.
2. The subconscious mind:
This is made of the second three and a half minds. Thus, it is more superficial than the conscious mind.
Thoughts in the subconscious mind can get converted into action more easily and are dangerous if they are socially not acceptable.
Competitive blockade - the double edged sword:
The easiest way of controlling an unwanted thought in the subconscious mind is by blocking it with a socially acceptable thought and then allowing the socially acceptable thought to get converted into action.
Thus, Competitive blockade gives us two benefits.
1. It prevents the socially unacceptable thought from getting converted into action.
2. It provides power to the socially acceptable thought.
Subconscious mind and mental disorders:
Competitive blockade would make the behavior of the thought we are blocking highly unpredictable and unreasonable.
Thus, the subconscious mind is the source of all mental disorders.
Thus, the subconscious mind,
1. Plays a role in the final stages of conversion of a thought into action
2. Converts a compulsive thought into a harmless dream
3. Transfers power from a socially unacceptable thought into a socially acceptable thought
4. Is the source of all mental disorders.
The study of the subconscious mind is often referred to as psychology of the subconscious or subconscious mind research. Surrealism is the art style most concerned with the subconscious mind. It explores dreams, hidden thoughts, symbols, and irrational imagery to express what lies beneath conscious awareness. Many creative and therapeutic practices, including hypnotherapy, also work with the subconscious to unlock insight and emotional change. The subconscious mind uses dreams to process emotions, memories, and experiences. During sleep, it organizes information, releases stress, and symbolically works through fears, desires, and unresolved thoughts. Dreams are not usually literal messages — they’re the mind’s way of making sense of what you feel, not just what you think.

The mind is commonly described as having two main parts: Conscious mind – responsible for awareness, thinking, logic, and deliberate decisions. Subconscious mind – responsible for habits, emotions, memories, beliefs, and automatic responses. Together, they influence how we think, feel, and behave.
Your subconscious mind is telling you to work on your people skills; you have no truly close relationships.
The alpha state is a relaxed and focused mental state that can help access the subconscious mind. In this state, the mind is more open to suggestion and can be influenced by positive affirmations or visualizations. This can help in reprogramming negative beliefs or behaviors stored in the subconscious mind.
