How was dental care in medieval times?

if you were poor, then you live with it or you pull it out with whatever instruments lying around. Most couldn't read let alone operate a dentist. However, the richer people may go to doctors who would try to pull them out. The ones who couldn't afford it, some died because of infection, (the hygene then was terrible, imagine living in your own toilet?)

Not very good at all. Often they would simply pull the tooth that was bugging you. Sometimes toothpaste or mouthwash would be used, and hours would be spent trying to make the breath fresh, sometimes effective, sometimes not. A cloth might be rubbed on the tooth to clean it, but no toothbrushes existed. If you had a dental problem, your tooth would be pulled, not by a dentist, but by a barber. Yup, barbers did dental services! It was a painful process, and dirty rags were often used to clean up.

If you knew the right herbs a tea could be made or a root chewed that could help. Monks often knew these things so people went to them.
