Gentian violet can be effective for treating canker sores due to its antifungal and antiseptic properties, which may help reduce pain and promote healing. However, it can also cause staining and may irritate sensitive tissues. It's important to consult with a healthcare professional before using gentian violet, especially for oral conditions, to ensure it's appropriate for your situation and to discuss potential side effects.

Is Gentian Violet Antiseptic good to use for canker sores under the tongue?

Yes that is what we used growing up. You just put one SMALL drop on the sore and it will clear up within a day or so. The liquid stains though so be very careful. Quickly wipe up any spills with a tissue. If it spreads (too much applied) wipe away the excess. After applying wait a couple of seconds for it to dry and then you can rinse your mouth with water. As long it got on and dried a bit, the medicine will do its job.
