"The WHO recommends that albendazole and mebendazole should not be taken by any woman during the first trimester of pregnancy (WHO, 2005)."

I found this answer in an academic paper on deworming programs in Sub Saharan Africa. So the answer is NO it is NOT safe.... Read the pamflet - these pills usually contain MEBENDAZOLE.
