Is it harder to get pregnant if you are older?

Right now you are at a very good age to conceive. The chances of conception decrease with a woman's age. Considering you are 21, there is a lot of years ahead of you. Men can father babies many years longer than a woman. I have read reports of 70 something men becoming dads. So not to worry and good luck.

im 19 my partners 42 and im pregnant at the minute with my 2nd child so no it doesnt really matter also my dad was 52 when he had me!

Age really makes no difference in whether or not a woman can become pregnant, as long as she is menstruating and ovulating and as long as the male partner is producing semen and able to ejaculate.

It depends on how young and how old. Generally women will reach their physical peak in their late teens to early 20s and therefore they are probably physically best equiped to have a baby then in terms of strength and stamina. However older women tend to be mentally stronger and therefore this could overcome the physical advantages of a younger woman. Yes it's harder to fall pregnant the older you get past the age of 35. This is because the female body, unlike the male reproductive organs, only produces a set amount of eggs in her lifetime. Once the woman has used up all her eggs (generally looses one egg per monthly period) she goes through the change of laugh called menopause. Men on the other end keep on producing sperm (not as much as in their youth) until they die or something else happens. Our bodies aren't really designed to have children after about 35, so that is why it's harder for older couples or women to fall pregnant.

No. As long as you still ovulate you can become pregnant. My mother was born to my grandmother when Grandma was 52 years old. You can become pregnant until you are COMPLETELY finished with menopause. If you are hoping to get pregnant, pay attention to timing your ovulation. If you are not, then you should consider contraceptives or abstinence during ovulation.
