The treatment goals in lupus are to reduce symptoms and prevent long term damage. I've had lupus for 25 years, and have become allergic to many treatments, including any type of anti-inflammatory drug (aspirin, NSAIDs) My rheumatologist put me on a natural anti-inflammatory about 4 years ago, and it has been really good for controlling the joint pain. It's called "cherryflex" and is available from their website, www.cherryflex.com. I take one pill in the morning and one at night. It's easy on your stomach, and works very well. (I also take tylenol, but nothing else.)

lupus is not curable. it is a dysfunction of the immune system that is repeated everytime a cell divides so can't be rid of. treatment is for the illeviation of some symptoms to prevent the effects of inflamation, infection and pain. anti-inflammatories, antibiotics, analgesia, steroids and antimalarials are ofter used during or to prevent flareups. :)
