Typically the one descended testicle will hypertrophy to a certain degree to take up the slack of the missing testicle, but won't completely double in production, so there is typically a slight decrease in viable sperm.

The main concern in untreated cryptorchidism is that the undescended testicle is prone to developing cancer.
