The bones are the building blocks of the body. They support the surrounding muscles, connective tissues, etc. as well as providing protection for the major organs (for example: the cranium protects the brain, the ribs protect the lungs).

The muscles are what attach to these bones allowing them to move in conjunction with one another. The muscle are attached to the bones by tendons. Muscles will contract and expand to move the bones.
