What causes hearing your heartbeat in the left ear?

AnswerIt could be the cause of built-up wax or, you may have an infection. If you wash your hair ALWAYS put the blow dryer on low and point it at your ears to be sure all water is out. Sometimes your ears can be plugged with water. Try the blow dryer and if it doesn't change in another couple of days please see your doctor. Don't worry, this isn't the sign of a stroke or heart attack.

if it wasn't a cause of built-up wax it can be one of the following:

1-High blood pressure.

2-Carotid artery disease.

3-Conductive hearing loss.

4-Ear muscle disorders.

5-Blood vessel disorders.

What causes hearing your heart beat ing the left ear? It is driving me nuts. It only goes away if Im laying down, or have my head turned to the left, or put pressure behind ear. Soon as I let pressure go it returns.

because your cartoroid artery is on the left side of your neck, so you can hear it in your left ear.

According to my Primary care doctor, this is can be a true statement; however, it generally means there is either clotting in the artery or a deformity of the artery. He sent me for ultra sounds and MRI's to determine which one was the cause. in my case, neither. When visiting my spine specialist, I mentioned the heartbeat in my left ear and was informed that an injury to the cervical spine can pinch the nerve that prevents you from hearing the heartbeat. In my case, the nerve has been pinched for...I can't remember a time I haven't heard this constant annoying beating in my ear. I can't stand silence; especially, at night. My spine specialist is going to perform a procedure to un-pinch the nerve on the left side, while injecting the nerve on the right side to stop the constant neck pain. I hope this helps others.
