With my limited knowledge (both parents had TIA's and I work in the medical field), there are numerous things that can cause TIA's. When my father had his first one, they said it was a combination of a lack of Vitamin B-12 and the fact that his carotid artery has a 70% plaque build up. When my mother had hers a few months ago, they don't really know. The plaque build up that she has is not enough to cause the stroke (per her cardiologist) but the ran all kinds of tests and have decided that even though she has minimal plaque build up that are going to go ahead and do what my parents loving call the "roter-rooter" surgery. If you have a medical dictionary (or you can go to webMD, or just Google TIA's) you can look up the technical description.

If you have blurred vision you could be having a stroke.
A hemorrhagic stroke relates to your brain. Strokes can occur in large or vast amounts (small usually referred to mini stroke). Strokes all take place in the brain. Some people usually think strokes are heart related.
Yes, mini strokes (transient ischemic attacks) can cause personality changes, such as increased irritability, mood swings, or emotional lability. These changes are typically temporary and may improve as the brain recovers from the mini stroke. It is important to seek medical attention if you or someone you know experiences personality changes after a mini stroke.
Mini strokes are almost undetected, although I have at times noticed problems with speech, or pain in both arms at the same time.

A stroke, caused by reduced blood and oxygen supply, may be an indication of severe blockage in the carotid artery. Less severe blockage may still cause "mini-strokes" or transient ischemic attacks (TIAs)
