After the damage done by colonialism, some African leaders turned to nationalism and pan-Africanism as means to unify their countries and promote self-determination. They focused on rebuilding their nations through education, infrastructure development, and economic independence. Additionally, many sought to establish strong political institutions to foster unity and stability, while advocating for international support and solidarity among African nations to combat the lingering effects of colonialism.
In 1584 and 1585 two expeditions were sent to Roanoke Island, in what is now North Carolina. They were of a military nature, sponsored and organized by Sir Walter Ralegh. In 1587 another expedition was sent and they too landed at Roanoke Island although they were supposed to go to the Chesapeake. This voyage consisted of men, women and boys. The colonists were unsuccessful and disappeared. Their fate is unknown. In 1607, during the reign of King James, another colony was sent to Virginia and the Jamestown colony was established. This was the first permanent and ultimately successful settlement in what is now the USA. I am sure my learned colleagues will supply information concerning colonization attempts in other countries.
The British approach to colonialism was often characterized by establishing settler colonies and trade outposts, emphasizing economic exploitation and the spread of British culture and governance. In contrast, the French typically focused on assimilation, seeking to integrate colonized peoples into French culture and society while maintaining direct control over territories. This led to a more centralized administration in French colonies compared to the more decentralized governance often seen in British territories. Additionally, the French often emphasized cultural and educational ties, whereas the British were more focused on economic gain and resource extraction.
WW1 and WW2 is a course in history that redistribute the power of the world and motivated countries to compete in technology Primarily they affect (I'm afraid you used a wrong word for the qn) the whole world To be more precise, it result in the fall of ottoman empire, the fall of british colonism rule, the rise of USA as the world super power, contributed much in resulting cold war and ultimately in many deaths and damage. Though the advance in technology is shocking as we went from big bulky tanks and first use of aircraft in WW1 to the first assault rifle, the first jet plane, the first atomic bomb and the end of using horses primarily in warfare
