Always acknowledge their feelings.
Never forget them, keep in touch with them. Know that they
are not alone, anytime, anyday. Be available!!!
Go with them to support groups.

A cancer patient. There is no special term like there is for say a diabeties patient (ie: diabetic).
Both are incorrect. We don't say "is died". The be verb 'is' cannot be used with died in this way. This kind of sentence - be + past participle - is a passive sentence and died cannot be used in passive sentences. The correct sentence is -- A patient has died from cancer. -- This is present perfect.
That depends on so many factors that are specific to the patient. Age of patient, General health of patient, Type of cancer Stage of cancer if metastasis is evident...
