Inspiration happens when the pressure inside the lungs is lower than the atmospheric pressure (outside) and air rushes into the lungs. Expiration is when the air inside the lungs is higher than the atmospheric pressure and the air rushes out of the lungs. If the intrapleural pressure (pressure within the pleura of the lungs) isn't maintained then the pressure in the lungs can't differentiate between inspiration and expiration and so the lung collapses.
an elevated pulmonary wedge pressure indicate that the pressure in the left atrium is evevated .
when atmospheric pressure is greater than the pressure within the lungs, inspiration occur.
Unopened water bottles collapse due to changes in air pressure. When the air pressure outside the bottle is higher than the pressure inside, the bottle can collapse as the external pressure pushes in on the bottle, causing it to shrink.
no higher the blood pressure
If the blood pressure is elevated by psychological stress, the theraputic interaction with an animal can reduce the blood pressure by reducing the stress that causes it to be elevated.
Meniere's disease is the labyrinth disorder with elevated endolymph pressure in the cochlea.
Atmospheric Pressure
Intrapleural pressure is most negative at the completion of inspiration.
When air inside a bottle is heated, it expands and increases pressure. If the bottle cannot withstand this increased pressure, it will collapse as the hot air cools down and contracts, creating a vacuum. The difference in pressure between the inside and outside of the bottle causes it to collapse.
For calculating the collapse pressure of a pipe, you first need to calculate the Hoop stress, which is given by :- Stress = Circumferencial Force/(radial thickness*axial length) If the stress crosses this value the pipe would collapse.
high potassium causes arrhythmias and the arrhythmias that it causes can reduce blood pressure causing someone to collapse.
