Another commonly used biomarker in the diagnosis of heart attack is the creatine kinase (CK) and, more specifically the creatine kinase-MB fraction, which is very specific to cardiac muscle. Elevations of these are very reliable (although not perfect) tools for the diagnosis of cardiac disease.
