What happens to your body when you take ibeprofen and excedrin together?

First of all, have you (or someone else) taken ibuprofen and Excedrin together? If so you need to walk away from the computer now, grab your telephone and dial 1-800-222-1222.This is the number for your nearby Poison Control Center. You need to tell the call taker everything that you've taken within the last 24 hours or so and describe any symptoms you (or whomever has taken the medications) are having.

Excedrin contains Acetaminophen and Asprin. Neither of these drugs should under any circumstances (except under direct supervision of a physician) be taken together. The interactions between Excedrin and Ibuprofen are very detailed, but in short it can cause severe problems with the clotting mechanism your body has that stops you from bleeding. If you're brusing easily you need to call poison control, then make an appointment to see your doctor. If you have uncontrolled bleeding, difficulty breathing, chest pain, or another serious symptom you should call 911 immediately.

While I'm not telling you any of this to frighten you, the interactions between these drugs can be life threatening if in sufficient doses, so this needs to be taken seriously.
