The human sense that triggers memories would be the sense of smell. When you smell something that you may have smelled at something like your wedding your brain will go back to that day and you will remember that scent. The wedding was just an example, there are other cases as well.

Cats have a special gland on the roof of their mouth that allows them to 'taste' the scent, letting them smell it better. So in a sense they are. I am sorry I cannot remember what it is called and I can't find it.
