The GM AIR (Active Intake Resonance) system is an innovative technology designed to optimize engine performance by enhancing airflow into the engine intake. It utilizes variable geometry to adjust the intake path length based on engine speed and load, improving efficiency and torque across a wider RPM range. This system helps to enhance fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and improve overall engine responsiveness. Ultimately, the GM AIR system contributes to a more effective and dynamic driving experience.

GM did not invent the air bag. It was invented by American John Hetrick in 1953 while in the U.S. Navy. It used compressed air. The modern air bag system was invented by a Japanese named Yasubaburou Kobori in 1963. Ford was the first American auto company to install air bags and they did it in 1971 followed by Chevrolet in 1973. GM was the first company to make the air bag system standard on it's vehicles.
GM did not invent the air bag. An American John Hedrik and a German Walter Linderer patented a compressed air system in 1951. Ford actually came out with the first air bags in 1971 on an experimental fleet, followed by GM in 1972. The first car sold to the public with an air bag was an Oldsmobile Tornado in 1973.
It is not recommended for anyone to attempt doing that, if you are trying to increase HP through an aftermarket air intake system, I recomend contacting your local dealer to purchase a specially made (GM) perfomance air intake system.

No, the 1996 GM Sonoma does not have a cabin air filter. Most vehicles from that era, including the Sonoma, were not equipped with cabin filters, as they became more common in later models. If you're concerned about air quality in the cabin, regular maintenance of the vehicle's ventilation system is recommended.
