Thrust Augmentation is a method to increase the thrust produced by gas turbine engine, when the outside condition are not suitable for smooth running of the engine. For eg: when it is a very hot day outside the density of the airflow entering the engine is not sufficient enough to produce the required thrust, hence thrust augmentation is used.

There are two common methods:

1) Water, Water/Methanol Injection - Injection a mixture of water and methanol either to compressor inlet or to combustion chamber, water used is de-mineralized water to prevent corrosion and it is used to increase density of air and cool the combustion chamber walls and methanol prevents freezing up of water since methanol has low melting point.

2) After - Burners - The exhaust gases coming into the exhaust of the engine passes through a area of after burner where more fuel is added and combusted which increases the velocity of the air and this increase is proportional to the increase in thrust obtained.

What are the two types of thrust reverser?

The two types of thrust reverser are the target-style thrust reverser and the clamshell-style thrust reverser. The target-style thrust reverser redirects the jet exhaust forward using a metal plate or "bucket." The clamshell-style thrust reverser consists of two doors that open outwards to redirect the jet exhaust.

What horsepower is a 26 pound trolling motor?

There is no direct correlation of thrust to horsepower. Horsepower is a measurement of "work" being performed. Thrust is simply a static measurement of force. In other words, "Thrust" and "Horsepower" measure two totally different things.

What are two ways to increase the amount of thrust a rocket produces?

If the mass flow rate through the rocketâ??s engine is increased, then the thrust will be higher. Another way to increase the thrust amount is to increase the exit or initial velocity during takeoff.

How to Convert shaft horse power to pounds of jet thrust?

There is no direct conversion between shaft horsepower (SHP) and pounds of jet thrust, as they are two different measures of power and thrust for different types of engines. SHP measures the power output of a shaft-driven engine, while jet thrust measures the force produced by a jet engine. To compare the two, you would need to consider factors such as engine efficiency, design differences, and specific applications.
