Sciatic is not a word--but sciatic nerve is. The sciatic nerve is a large nerve that starts in the lower back and runs through the buttock and down the lower limb. It is the longest and widest single nerve in the body. Hope this helped!
The medical term for nerve pain through the thigh and leg is "sciatica." Sciatica is characterized by pain, tingling, or numbness that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back down the back of each leg. It is often caused by compression or irritation of the nerve roots in the lower spine.
Patent ductus arteriosus, or PDA, is a type of heart murmur that radiates to the back. It occurs when an infant's ductus arteriosus does not close after birth.

Pancreatic pain can radiate to the shoulder due to the close proximity of the diaphragm and phrenic nerve, which can cause referred pain to that area. Additionally, inflammation or irritation of the pancreas can irritate the nerves surrounding it, leading to pain that travels along those nerve pathways to the shoulder.
Hello Pam. Sorry to hear about this condition. It's true that sciatica can cause such pain. when sciatic nerve is compressed by a bulging disc in your vertebra it can cause such pain in the back and hips that radiates from back of the hips to knees or can even go to the bottom of the foot.you may also experience tingling or numbness in the area. But this is not the only cause for back pain. for example an inflamed bursa (fluid filled sac at the site of a joint) of the hip can cause a pain that radiates to the lateral part of your knees.
The scaitic nerve is the longest and largest nerve.
