This is a tough question to answer because I think it is an individual one. If it were me and my wife making the decision I feel like we would donate them to someone who could use them. However, some might not feel comfortable with that approach. They could be donated for research purposes or destroyed. I could not say what the 'right' answer is only you can make that decision for yourself.

What if a father has not seen their child in ten months and one day decides to want to see them can he just come and take them?

That depends on the custody order and the visitation order. However, he should call ahead and let the family know if he decides to exercise his visitation rights after not seeing the child for some time. If he has no visitation rights then it's up to the mother. Either way he should call ahead in case the family has plans. That depends on the custody order and the visitation order. What should a mother of a 3 year old do with a son that rejects her and prefers his father?

She should continue to love him unconditionally and do whatever is best for him, without letting his behavior cause her to treat him negatively. If his rejection of her has a legitimate cause (which information would probably have to come from an impartial observer), she should work to change whatever that is.

What should somebody who has been adopted call her birth mother?

They are still just called their mother or godmother. Another answer: It depends on the preference of the birth mother. If she wants to be called Mother, or Mom, or Bio-Mom, or whatever -- let her choose. You can also call her by her given name. It's a good idea to be consistent. Refer to her in the third person with the same level of respect that you show to her face, by always using the name she prefers to be called.
