Right at the very start of the aorta is the aortic valve and at the very start of the pulmonary artery is the pulmonart valve, each of which are semilunar. In the heart there are two semilunar valves that lad to blood vessels. The pulmonary semilunar valve leads to the pulmonary trunk, and the Aortic semilunar valve leads to the Aorta.

What blood vessels contain valves and why?

Only veins contain valves. The valves prevent the backward flow of blood.

Name blood vessels that contain valves?

Valves are in the veins.

When are semi-lunar valves open?

Semilunar valves are open when the blood is being pumped. The AV valves are closed when the semilunar valves are open.

What act as doors between the chambers of your heart?

The heart does not have doors, but it does have valves that could be thought of as doors. They consist of the semilunar valves (the pulmonary semilunar valve and the aortic semilunar valve). The other two are the atrioventricularvalves (tricuspid and bicuspid valves).

What occurs when the AV valves are closed and the semilunar valves are open?

Blood is ejected from the ventricles into the major blood vessels that are connected to the heart: the aorta on the left side and the pulmonary trunk on the right side

When the ventricles are relaxed are the semilunar valves open or closed when the AV valves are open?

When the ventricles are relaxed, the semilunar valves are closed, while the atrioventricular (AV) valves are open. This allows blood to flow from the atria into the ventricles. The closure of the semilunar valves prevents backflow of blood from the arteries into the ventricles during this phase.

What blood vessels have thin wals and contain valves?

Veins

Function of semilunar valves?

the function of the semilunar valves are that they provied the lungs with glucose and oxygen.

What events occur when the semilunar valves are open?

The semilunar valves are open when blood is being pumped by ventricular contraction. This event is called systole.

If a blood contains a valve what kind of vessel it ts?

The only blood vessels that contain valves are veins.

Do both arterial and venous vessels have valves?

No, only venous vessels have valves. Valves in veins help prevent the backflow of blood and aid in promoting blood flow back to the heart. Arterial vessels do not have valves because blood in arteries is under higher pressure and flows away from the heart.

What ensures that the blood does not flow back into the heart?

Semilunar valves
