Alveoli- these are the small sac-like structures where gas exchange occurs with the blood. Its creates an ideal site for gas exchange between the air in the lungs and the blood in the capillaries.
Oxygen
alveoli
red blood cells
The respiratory system provides gas exchange between blood and air. This occurs in the lungs, where oxygen from inhaled air diffuses into the bloodstream while carbon dioxide is removed from the blood and exhaled.
External Respiration is where gasses are absorbed into the blood through the alveolar capillary beds. Internal respiration is where the gasses are transferred into the cells from the blood.
Gas exchange.
Gas exchange (between blood and air).
through the blood vessels
They can control gas exchange in the tissues. When they are constricted, there is almost complete no gas exchange. The blood just bypasses the tissues.
The alveoli
Veins, Arteries (Capillaries are also blood vessels, but the main job is gas exchange).
