Why does your head itch?

Either lice, dandruff, or psoriasis of the scalp. Your head could itch also if the skin is dry, if you are sensitive to your shampoo, if you have lice or other bugs, if you have a rash, if you scalp got sunburned and is healing, or if you wear a wool hat.

Folicullitus can also cause your scalp to itch. But if this is the cause of the itching, you will likely notice thinning hair and occasional bumps on the scalp. If you notice any of these, you need to see your dermatologist for treatment since this will cause baldness. But the good news is it can be easily treated.

i think it is because your hair produces natural oils and if you constantly scratch or brush your hair the oil can spread and make it feel "wet".

or it can be you have a dry scalp and the scratching broke some skin on the scalp releasing natural oil but yo may also have dandruff or other scalp issues ... to full know the cause see your dermatologist and/or research itchy scalp through Google then after you research that try wet scalp spots if the problem is in usually one spot and then see what you come up with yourself and tell your dermatologist hope this helps :D ...

Jock itch, also known as tinea cruris, is a fungal infection of the skin in the groin. The warm, moist environment is the perfect place for the fungus to grow. Anything that enhances that environment puts the person at risk of getting jock itch. Therefore, wearing sweaty, wet clothing in the summer time or wearing several layers of clothing in the wintertime causes an increased incidence of jock itch. Men are affected more often than women.

Answer 2 When your skin is drying - after a swim for example - the rate of drying will not be equal over all areas of your skin. Thus over an area, the rate of heat loss will be unequal, and your sensory system interprets this as an external signal needing attention.

A common example of this is rotating your head to expel water from your hair. Or draining water from your ears.

Dogs, who rely upon their hair / fur to give them signals will be quite disturbed by wet hair and will rotate their body to remove or at least equalize the water. This rotation does NOT TO DRY the dog, though it is commonly claimed so.

An amusing illustration of this is in one of the Attenbrough films showing Orca hunting seals in S America. Where a seal is shown emerging from the water and immediately rotating his head, doggy - fashion, to 'shake the water from the hair'. Seals have only a slight need to dry their hair.

Xerosis (dry skin). This is the most common cause of itching frequently seen in the winter and also associated with older age, frequent bathing in hot showers or baths, and high-temperature and low-humidity environments.

When you get wet, you get athlete's foot. it's basically a tiny fungus that makes you itch. The name is misleading, though, as you can get it anywhere.
