If someone has pneumona and the life support system is removed it will only be a matter of maybe a few minutes to maybe at the most 30 min shall they continue on breathing. Their lungs would have already been filled up with fluid which is very hard for the heart to keep pumping. So with in that time period the fluid would had taken over in the chest region which would cause heart failer to take place
Life support means keeping one alive when their body is unable to do this on it's own. The decisions as to when to take someone off life support is taken by doctors.

Obviously, the life insurer will not pay when a patient policy holder is taken off life support. Unless the hospital authority officially signs the death certificate of the patient, the clinical death will not be officially recoginised from insurance point of view.
It is obviously cheaper to execute a prisoner than to support someone for life in prison; but that isn't how we make decisions that involve life and death in this country.
