How long to recover from stomach surgery?

Answer Hi, I had a tummy tuck about two years ago and it was day surgery, so I was released about 2 hours after the surgery. I had consulted with many surgeons about length of stay and it was pretty much borderline (a recovery period for about 2 to 4 HOURS) and then released. I do know that if your surgery is performed at a hospital they may require/allow you to stay for 2 TO 4 days. I am a plastic surgeon in Utah (Dr. York Yates). With improved technique and technology, this is almost always an oupatient procedure today. My patients stay as long as they need/ feel like it but usually this is just 15-45 minutes. I generally do not use general anesthesia even for a full abdominoplasty which helps.

Depending on the type of surgery it is, the hospital stay could be anywhere from a few hours to a month +... The tipical hospital stay for stomach surgery is 7-10 days but again it depends on the type of surgery

The recovery time for a tummy tuck could be as low as four to six weeks but could be as high as eight to twelve weeks. High intensity workouts and the like would not be recommended for at least that long.
