It depends on what state you are certified in. some are a little different in what the STNA can do. in Ohio, as an STNA, I provide individuals with ADL's (activities of daily living) such as bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, and hygiene. I do Catheter and colostomy care, take vital signs( blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature), I assist walking, toileting, make beds, some light cleaning of equipment, and also charting on each patient. STNA's spend more time with their patients than most Dr's and nurses, so you are usually "eye's and ears" for the nurses and doctors if anything changes in how the patient is doing.
