Yes. Since Klonopin (clonazepam) is a benzodiazepine class medication, which binds the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain (GABA), abrupt cessation of Klonopin (that is usually taken regularly) places the individual at a significantly greater risk of seizure. This is true of alcohol, as well (since alcohol binds GABA, too). Alcohol withdrawal seizures are substantially similar to benzodiazepine withdrawal seizures.
edit--allow me to improve on this a little bit.
Key words here are *abrupt cessation if usually taken regularly*--While I'm sure there are always the odds of seizure, I am sure the smaller amount taken will decrease the chances (or not even smaller amount, just so as you are not taking it every day).
i.e. if you take it as PRN (or as needed), then I dont see the likelyhood of seizures as being to high since it isn't in your body as much (hopefully you dont have to take it often).
Now, I have taken to much once, and caused a bad reaction much like alcohol (at least according to the emergency doc I saw!). So, it is true in that regard that while it may help based on the correct dose, but if you take it enough to where the usefulness decreases, make sure you do not compensate for that by taking extra (like I did :) It will only cause you to go a little batcrap crazy :D
Depakene, Klonopin, and Zarontin are prescribed for patients who have absence seizures.
Taking 2800mg of Trazodone, 105mg of Klonopin, and 1300mg of Paxil can cause seizures, respiratory difficulties, and eventually death when taken all at once.
It is not safe to take NyQuil while also taking Adderall, Klonopin, Lexapro, and Percocet, as it can cause seizures and other serious side effects.
No! There is a real risk of having severe, life-threatening seizures, so it is imperative to see your doctor who will reduce the dose appropriately if needed.
If you stop taking Topamax, your symptoms that it is treating will come back. This medication is used to treat seizures and migraine headaches so if you stop taking it, those symptoms will come back.
Clonazepam or Klonopin, is a benzodiazepine used to control symptoms of an anxiety attack or seizures.
A person who weighs 50 pounds should not be taking Klonopin without be advised to do so by a doctor. Taking Klonopin can harm a person when it is not dosed properly.
Klonopin is a drug derived from Clonazepam, an anti-convulsant that is used to prevent seizures, such as epilepsy. The molecular weight is 315.7112. The molecular formula is C15H10ClN3O3.
Klonopin is used for anxiety problems and seizures mainly. It's a brand name for the drug Clonazepam, similar to Xanax but more people prefer taking Klonopin for it's longer lasting effects. More information on Klonopin can be found here http://klonopinsideeffects.net
If I am taking klonopin to sleep at night can I also take tussionex cough syrup (w/codeine)?
I suppose so, if you take massive doses of them, but not if you're taking a normal dose. I was prescribed klonopin for alcohol withdrawal, while I was taking Suboxone.
Why would you take Oxycontin/Oxycodone for seizures? It isn't used for seizures!
