Sometimes it happens from coughing too much when you take a big hit, but usually it's just if the person has a low tolerance to marijuana. Again, vomiting usually doesn't happen as a result of smoking marijuana.

On rare occasions first time smokers may throw up once because their body is unfamiliar with weed. The only other time it can cause vomiting is if a coughing fit causes you to gag and your gag reflex is sensitive enough that you throw up.
