: I think you should NOT use depo provera. It has messed up several of my friends. : : How long does it take to get it out of your system?? My best friend got the shot a few times and SEVEN years later of trying to conceive is unsuccessful. : YOU CAN BECOME STERILE. I was so mad on behalf of my friend that I did a load of research about this drug and am officially disgusted what women go through for the "convenience" of this anti-conception injection. I feel angry that pharmaceutical companies gloss over very real side-effects. : You can loose your bone density, increase your chances of cervical cancer, migraines, ectopic pregnancy, and anemia, among other things. I recommend reviewing all sides of a drug like this before taking it, not just the information offered by the Doctor Who will forget your name when you leave the office, or may have personal bias regarding general population trends. : This is not a safe drug in my opinion.

well I was on the depo provera for a little over two years before I had my second child. After my third child I was on it for a year. My doctor and the nurses all told me that they don't recommend being on it for over two years because of the bone density that can be lost that can't be reversed once you stop getting the shot. getting osteoporosis at a young age no woman wants to get. I have heard of woman staying on it longer, but me I want to be able to have strong bones. Other better options are out there for Birth Control.

First, it's important to understand that the bleeding that you have on Depo Provera is not a real period; a period is ovulation followed by shedding of the lining of the uterus. You don't ovulate when you're on Depo Provera, so you don't get a period.

random spotting can occur randomly all threw the first round, my first round was bad. i had not spoting for 2 months on my last month before my second round i bleed out badly. it has been worth it though.

I've been on depo since iwas 16, the first time i didnt bleed at all, after my 2nd shot i bleed the whole 3 months, doctor told me its normal some people will bleed the whole time taking it , im 18 now, and every other time i bleed.

Answera full period can last for several months off and on with the depo shot my husband said laughingly that's why it works you never can have sex sorry but i would give it to the second shot if you are willing and see theres always the patch
This varies greatly from person to person. I've been on the shot two different times in my life, and spotted the whole time the first time, but have not spotted or had a period at all since my first shot the second time around. From discussing this with friends, I've found that everyone's experience seems to vary, even for the same person at different times. You may want to talk to your doctor about this and see if he/she recommends less time between shots, a different form of birth control as a back up, or possibly some tests depending on your personal medical history..... I would'nt panic, as some people have spotting no matter how long they've been on depo- but it is certainly something you need to discuss with your doc.... if nothing else, when you call to make the appointment for your next shot, tell them you'd also like to spend a few minutes with the doctor talking about it.
