When you take a "pill" your body has to metabolize or change its chemical makeup to allow it to enter the correct system and be carried to the organ, system or location where it is needed so it can proceed to do it's "work". The length of time a drug or its byproduct(s) remain in your body varies infinitely depending on what is necessary for this process AND specifically what it's "work" is and how it goes about doing it. This can run generally from about 12 hours to 6 months unless you include the changes it may have made to your body chemistry along with the drug and its byproducts. There are two kinds - water soluble and fat soluble. Water soluble vitamins stay no longer than a day, then the excess gets cleaned out by your kidneys and goes into your urine. Fat soluble vitamins get stored in body fat and break down little by little. They have a half-life. They might last for weeks or even months.
