I was started on 20mg nearly two years for the same symptoms and it helped. (I also was on Xanax .5mg for a few months but stopped that due to the high risk of addiction I had been reading about in some people- it did help the anxiety and did help me sleep but it is very temporary solution).
Now I am on 10mg of Lexapro daily which is a low maintenance dose and is fine for me (though the side effect of decreased libido is a bummer:-)
Talk to your Doctor Who after listening to you may increase your dose to 20mg. You can drop back to 10mg when the time is right. So, go to your doctor and talk and describe what you are feeling. A lot of people start at 20mg but talk to your doctor first, he/she may also give you something else. That said, Lexapro is favoured for its lesser side effects. There are side effects of course which I am sure you know about after being on them for two years. Good luck..
Answer:It is perfectly fine to take Lexapro and Ativan. It is a very common combination of medications for people to take. Ativan is approved for anxiety and for anxiety associated with depression. Only Ativan and Xanax are specifically indicated for use with a depressive disorder. Ativan is also commonly used for 2-6 weeks as Lexapro is started because Ativan can reduce the initial side effects Lexapro can cause and Ativan will provide immediate relief of anxiety.
I did and ended it with having my gallbladder removed and weaning off Lexapro in one week. My first problems with my gallbladder arose a couple of months into taking Lexapro for the first time years before. I stopped and then I had a pregnancy and about 5 year with no lexapro. When I had a traumatic family sitiuation I tried Lexapro again and again a couple of months into it I started to have gallbladder attacks. I took one lexapro after my surgery and it made me so sick I have vowed to never touch it again. It sucked because it really did great for my anxiety.
To my knowledge, this drug is prescribed for anti-anxiety control. Given that ocd/anxiety may fall into similar categories, it is advised that you talk to a physician/psychiatrist on the matter of ocd and what treatments are available and in what dosage. Try not to experiment with treatment like that with out the supervision of a doctor, you might suffer some serious side-effects in the long run.
YES
No, you shouldn't because it increases your risk of having a seizure.
Well, in one way yes it does. It does so because the Lexapro takes away the depression and sadness so a person is happier and therefore, feels like laughing and talking again. Lexapro is not addictive and is not a happy pill like Valium is.
When I started taking Lexapro I had a constant headache. My doctor told me that was a 'normal' side effect of the drug and it would subside in a few weeks. For me it took about a month to be headache free. To me it was worth it because I chose the headache over the constant sadness. I also suffer from migraines and the Lexapro headache was not debilitating like migraines so I stuck it out and the headache went away. The headache returned after I increased the dosage to 20mg and it took about 3 weeks to adjust.
i did and it did nothing for me at all exept insomnia and nausea. those things go away, but i never felt any benefit. now I'm hoping that i do not have a hideous withdrawal since yesterday was my last day. switching to paxil. buspar doesn't work either. ugh Make sure that the anti-anxiety medicine your taking, has no risks of becoming addictive. But don't let that put you off because the situation may get worse like mine.
That there is no work, because of the economic reasons and because of the troubles that is going on.
yes and I would know because I'm taking it.
Because they don't want to admit that they have anxiety
