They're both in the same class of anti-infammatories. Doesn't matter which one you took. The major difference is that the naproxen sodium is taken every 12 hrs as opposed to every 6-8 hours for ibuprofen.

What is an over the counter anti-inflammatory other than aspirin i am allergic to aspirin and am92 years old?

Aspirin is classed by some as an anti-inflamatory, but it's usefulness is minimal compared to others. NSAID's such as Ibuprofen work better and can be purchased over the counter. They are a different class of drugs and therefore are not contra-indicated due to your allergy. However, I would encourage you to speak to your pharmacist regarding long term treatment.

Can you take Ibuprofen and analgesics together?

Not recommended. It really depends on your anagesics too. Ibuprofen (Brufen) contains Aspirin and any pain relief tablets also contaning aspirin will be damaging to your stomach, even cause intestinal bleeding. I would not take anything else other than Brufen unless under Doctors strict orders and supervision.

Can take aspirin and naproxen different times in same day?

Yes and No. . . The "Yes" part: They are both Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID), but the 81 mg aspirin ("low dose") is typically given to help prevent heart attack and/or stroke. Because 81mg is significantly below the recommended dose for pain relief from aspirin, you can take ibuprofen the same day. However, you want to be careful not to take ibuprofen too often and not to take it in larger than recommended doses. It can cause gastrointestinal problems (stomach ulcers, etc.) and occasionally can cause some liver problems if taken repeatedly and at high doses. The "No" part: If a person is taking 81mg aspirin to prevent heart attacks, etc., ibuprofen could potentially lessen the anti-clotting effect of aspirin. It is wise not to take ibuprofen with aspirin if the aspirin is being taken for an anti-coagulation purpose. Conclusion: You can take ibuprofen with 81mg aspirin, but do not do it often or for an extended amount of time. *Note: If you took a pain-relief dose of aspirin, such as 325 mg, you would not want to take ibuprofen unless directed to by your practitioner. ALSO: Make sure to verify with your doctor it is alright to take ibuprofen if you are on other medications. If a person is taking other medications that significantly affect the liver/kidneys or gastrointestinal tract, ibuprofen may not be recommended.

Why is Aspirin less irritating to the stomach than salicylic acid?

Aspirin or ibuprofen are known to irritate the stomach because they are chemically classified as acids. Acids may irritate the stomach lining. Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is not an acid so it doesn't not irritate the stomach.

Is aspirin in opium?

There is no aspirin in opium, and there is no opium in aspirin. Opiates and opioids act by blocking pain receptors in the central nervous system and do not contain any NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which include aspirin and ibuprofen). Aspirin and other non-narcotic drugs do not act on the central nervous system. Instead, they help relieve pain by reducing swelling/inflammation, hindering pain chemicals (prostaglandins), and bringing down fevers. It is worth noting that a combination of aspirin and opium works better to relieve pain than giving these two medicines separately.

What is better acetaminophen or ibuprofen?

Acetaminophen and ibuprofen are both considered pain killers, but one might be better than the other for certain symptoms. In my personal history, advil has worked better for cramps, joint pain, muscle pain, other pain of this nature. Acetaminophen works better at headaches and reducing the effects of fever. Its usually safe to switch between the two, but ask your doctor first, and then you can figure out which one works better for your symptoms.

Can you take ibuprofen nebulizer and triaminic all at the same time?

You should ask your doctor before taking Excedrin and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) together. Excedrin contains acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin, and caffeine. Aspirin and ibuprofen are in the same category of medication - non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs). Taking them at the same time may damage the stomach lining and create ulcers, as well as create bleeding issues.

Can you take Ibuprofen and paracetamol together?

Paracetamol should always be the first choice as it has fewer side effects than ibuprofen. It is therefore better to take paracetamol first and then use ibuprofen 2-3 hours later - but only if the paracetamol has not worked in controlling your symptoms. The chemist says - it is best to avoid taking several different pain medicines all at once because of stomach upset, nausea, and the possibility that you might not need all that medicine! You need to separate different types of pain medication. In this case, you can use the "Three Hour Switch" that doctors explain to all parents. Take one medicine, then after three hours, switch and take the next one. Three hours after that, switch back to the first one. Keep switching back and forth until you feel better. You should reconsider the need to take both paracetamol and ibuprofen on a daily basis because it's best to avoid taking unnecessary medicines. Avoid taking ibuprofen and aspirin together. They can cause serious stomach upset which can lead to indigestion, gastritis and ulcers.
